Police Killed Oyerinde -- Oshiomhole

Adams Oshiomhole has accused the Nigerian Police of being responsible for the assassination of his Special Adviser and Personal Secretary, Olaitan Oyerinde.
Mr Oshiomhole, who was speaking on Thursday in Abuja during the launching of the new code of conduct for the Nigerian police, said both the assassin and the weapon used to murder the late Oyerinde were in police detention as at the time the assassination was carried out.

A ship exploded at the Tin Can Island port, Apapa-Lagos yesterday,causing panic across the metropolis. Men of the press were not given access to the scene.but NEMA official MRS tank was responsible.

Fire razes Alaafin of Oyo's Palace

Although no lives were lost in the incident, it was gathered that the blaze burnt 21 rooms in the palace including one in which some artefacts were kept.

Among the razed rooms include Ile Ori, Ile Ifa where some artefacts were kept.

Rooms of the Kings wives were also touched.

Speaking on the damage done by the inferno, the media assistant to the monarch; Mr Azeez Fehintola, revealed that the palace was badly damaged, adding that the fire which started around 6a.m yesterday. could not be contained until after about three hours.

The Oyo state Governor Abiola Ajimobi has led members of the state executive council on a condolence visit to the Alaafin of Oyo on the fire disaster.

Indian man lives in tree for nine months waiting for apology

Hello people,i heard this gist on radio this morning so i had to search the net for the full story.

A cuckolded man has been living in a Guava tree for nine months and refuses to come down until his wife returns to him and apologises for her "infidelity".

The man, known only as Sanjay, 25, from Ramgaon village close to Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, climbed up the tree in March this year after finding his wife in a compromising position with his neighbour at their home in Mumbai.

The couple returned to their village to resolve their differences but when his wife refused to apologise and insisted on returning to Mumbai, the man launched his protest.

His mother, Kushma Devi, told The Asian Age he threatened to kill himself when relatives tried to persuade him to come down.

"He eats and sleeps on the tree and even relieves himself from there. We keep going to him and asking him if he needs anything," she said. He survives on the Guava fruit and meals handed up by relatives. His sister said as long as he is safe and does not harm himself, they are happy for him.

A spokesman for Cholapur police said the man had not done anything wrong and the police will not intervene. "The man is on a tree top for the last nine months over some domestic dispute. He is not talking to anyone. He has not committed any offence, so we cannot intervene in the matter. The tree is not that high and we do not apprehend that the man will commit suicide or is any threat to the public," he said.

His wife has since returned to her parents and has rejected appeals from her husband's family to return to him.
Someone please tell Mr Sanjay to get a life.cos there so many Bollywood hotties to hang-out with.

Petrol Tanker Crashes Into Commercial Bus.

 An  accident occurred on sunday morning at Odo Oba near Ogbomosho killing an unspecified number of people and injuring several others.

  The accident which occurred when one of the petrol tankers, coming from Katsina State tried to avoid a bad road thereby had an head on collision with the commercial bus coming from the opposite direction.The National Emergency Management Agency confirmed the crash, saying three persons escaped.

   There were conflicting figures on the number of dead and those still trapped in the burning vehicles but message from the Ogbomosho unit commander of the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) G. A. Adedipe said three people died, two trapped in the burning vehicles while nine that were injured have been taken to a private clinic.

 Funke Akindele-Oloyede, the producer and actress of the famed Jenifa role, has said another sequel to the Jenifa movie franchise will soon be out and it will be about the trip of her alter ego to Jamaica and New York.The actress made this known while she was on channels tv's weekend breakfast show; Sunrise.
 The movie Jenifa, is about the plight and antics to survive of a village girl schooling in a major city will have the fourth sequel which will be about Jenifa’s international exploit.According to Funke, the movie was shot in Caribbean Island of Jamaica and in New York.She also revealed that another TV series titled ‘Season 3’ will also hit the airwaves soon and the shooting of the series will commence in a few months.

Man Chops Off Girl Friend’s Head In Niger

The police in Niger state have arrested Mr. Godwin Edeko, a 500 level student of the Federal University of Technology, Minna for allegedly cutting off his girlfriend head after having carnal knowledge of her for three days.
Some of the neighbours said that they became suspicious when they heard the dead girl, simply identified as Hanatu, screaming and the suspect dashing out of his room.
They further mentioned that after some time without hearing any sound from the girl who had been with the suspect for three days without coming out, they forcefully opened the door of the room only to find the headless body of Hanatu with blood stains all over the room.
Niger State Police Public Relation Officer, Pius Edoko while confirming the incident explained that although the suspect had confessed to the crime, the command is yet to establish the motive of the crime.
He however said the investigation is ongoing with a view to crack down other people involved in the crime as the severed head was recovered from an uncompleted building in Bosso.
