Two Fuel Tankers Explode in Lagos

There was yet another fire outbreak thursday in Lagos, in what appears to be a season of fire outbreak in the state. Chaos and pandemonium ensued thursday at Waterworks Road, off Liverpool, Apapa, when two tankers fully loaded with petroleum products exploded at a loading bay belonging to Petrol-Cargo Limited.

Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA), the state Fire Service, the Merchant Navy and the Nigeria Police, battled to no avail to put out the fire.

Commercial Bus Drivers Protest Ban Of Mini-Vans In Abuja

Commercial drivers and operators of mini-vans popularly known as Araba on Tuesday protested the ban of all unlicensed commercial transport operators within the nation’s capital city by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

According to the FCTA, the ban is part of a new policy to decongest the city centre of vehicular traffic as the mini-vans are only allowed to operate within designated routes in the city center.

The secretary of the FCT Transport Secretariat; Mr Jonathan Ivoke explained that the new policy which was announced five months ago is not aimed at increasing unemployment or insecurity in the city.

He noted that the new initiative is neither a total ban on transport operators nor a means to worsen the plight of residents.

Commercial bus drivers have threatened to disrupt business activities and destroy the new high capacity buses in the city if the policy is not reversed.

He was interviewed by 53 Extra co-host Eku Edewor who asked him about the big plans he has for 2013 including being a dad. Naeto C looked surprised by the question but happily confirmed that he plans to be a great dad and is excited about the new stage in his life.

There had been speculation that Naeto C and Nicole were expecting after she was spotted with “a baby bump” in late 2012. Though there was no official confirmation until now.
